A few questions..
I get a lot questions about booking newborn & maternity photo shoots at my home studio here in Watlington. So I wanted to collate some of the common questions to help your decision making when choosing the type of photo shoot & ultimately the space and the photographer you want to choose for your photo shoot.
Will there be somewhere to park?
I know when you're pregnant, with a newborn or even juggling older children this question is always top of mind! And I am happy to say - absolutely yes! Although the studio is located along a quiet pedestrian footpath we have parking spaces just a short walk across the Paddock (park) in Watlington. I provide full instructions on how to locate and where to go. And I'm always happy to come & greet you at your car and help to carry bags if you prefer. You'll have my phone number for on the day you can just give me a quick call and I'll be there for you!
Can older siblings be included in a newborn studio photo shoot?
Although named a 'newborn' shoot - portraits with your newborn with both parents and siblings are always included as well as solo portraits of the older siblings too. So essentially this is a family shoot but with a little more focus around the baby. That being said we always go with the flow & the sessions are baby/child led to so we will always work to get the shots you & they are comfortable with. Also good to know I have snacks, tv & some toys should we need them and you're always welcome to bring their favourite toys & put on their favourite songs to help them feel comfortable & at home. I have 5yo & 2yo children so understand the importance first hand of working with them & gently encouraging them in front of the camera.
can you give advice on what to wear?
I'm so glad you asked! I always send a style guide with tips on what to wear to create timeless beautiful images. Feel free to send over photos of options before hand & have a nose through my client wardrobe that all families are welcome to borrow for their shoot. It's filled with timeless pieces that I know are comfortable & photograph beautifully. You can mix & match these with your own pieces too.
can we wear more than one outfit?
Yes! I love to mix it up. For Maternity photo shoots - the options are really unlimited. When working with children I'd probably stick to 2-3 max just with the protests & keeping things streamlined. For newborns I always recommend arriving with them in an outfit you're happy for them to be photographed in so if they are settled/sleeping then we can get some shots straight away without disturbing them. From there we can choose at least one more outfit and usually a little skin-to-skin nappy moment with the tiny bloomers. If they are super chilled there is a chance to try another outfit too but it is entirely up to you & how your baby reacts on the day. As mentioned the sessions are baby-led & you have control if you want to pause, change or feed them at any point.
