Choosing your photographer... A few thoughts
It's so important to choose the right photographer for your maternity or newborn photo shoot - this is such a special & sacred chapter of your families story. You need to feel comfortable & trust that your photographer sees and values this too. And takes the time & care that your family deserves.
Obviously I cannot know or vouch for what other photographers offer but please know with me you will always get:
- Time - to chat & talk through your journey, the birth (if you want to) and to talk through elements of the shoot before the day & on the day. Although I sometimes will have my own family commitments every session is scheduled so we have plenty of time to get the shots you dream of. And we always spend a moment at the end to recap the moodboard & try any last ideas of things you'd love to have captured.
- Support & Encouragement - I've had some lovely feedback from mums saying how confident I helped them feel in front of the camera - and this translates to beautiful imagery. Sometimes the things I might ask may sound silly but do trust me and we will create magic I promise.
- Images with Emotion & Feeling - again this is often the most noted thing that families who choose me want from their images. And I have begun to realise this is one of my super powers with my work, when I look at images and the moments we capture I can see & feel genuine emotion. These are the photos you want to share & pass on & look back on with your family for years to come. Not just a generic photograph - but a photograph that moves you, where you can see & feel the emotion.
